Early November always marks the time we 'fall backward' and 'loose' an hour of daylight. What does that mean to us? As boaters, it means we have to plan ahead and leave early as darkness comes sooner than usual and we don't want to be caught out coming home from boating in the dusk! It usually works out though as the children in the household show no regard for the change of time and are up at the crack dawn!

Bahamas Beaches

This past time change, Sunday November 5th, was a perfect boating day, the water calm and warm, and still a nice temperature for a quick dip!

Spectacular up and down Rose Island offers one of the best beaches in the Bahamas. Twelve miles long, sandy and incredibly pretty, with reefs, shoals, and every color blue you can imagine. The…

New Providence Poinciana Trees from Bahamar
As pilot I used to love flying in from the south east, from maybe Exuma or Rock Sound Eleuthera around this time of year. We would hit the southern shoreline and traverse the island heading to towards the airport. We crossed the land with a birds eye view and were treated to a stunning display of the gorgeous and vibrant Poincianna trees that cover New Providence, a carpet of green with vivid red bursts giving the appearance that the island is on fire in a beautiful way.

The view from the atop the Baha Mar resort during our recent site tour!

Truly a wonderful sight, the almost breathtaking intensity of the colors and from the air you see just how much of the island is home to these trees that are so stunning when in bloom.
